Qualified But Invisible

You’re qualified. You’re credible. But no one can find you.

Most executives I talk to have the resume, the track record, and the references.

What they don’t have is a clear way for the right people to actually find them when a seat opens.

Board searches always start with a problem to solve.

If your brand doesn’t make that solution obvious in seconds, you get skipped.

Think of board readiness as a simple equation: relevance + credibility + visibility.

✔️ Relevance is the precise intersection of your industry and functional expertise.

✔️ Credibility is the proof that you create outcomes, not activity.

✔️ Visibility is being easily findable and referable outside your immediate network.

If you want a quick gut check, try the five-second test.

Hand your profile to a peer and ask them to answer three questions after a quick skim:

1. Who are you for boards?

2. What talent gap do you fill?

3. What types of boards are you targeting?

If their answers don’t match yours, it’s not that you’re invisible. It’s that your value isn’t clear yet.

Start here this week: tighten your headline around your boardroom success proposition, move your most relevant proof to the top of your About section, and make it painfully easy to contact you.

Then publish one short post that shows how you think about a live board issue in your domain. Teaching builds trusted visibility.
